What’s Up Wednesday and Good News!

What’s Up Wednesday

What we’re eating this week:

Healthy meals and drinking tonnes of water:

image
Dinner: Small piece of grilled turkey and a salad. Fresh homemade orange juice.

image
Lunch: Pieces of leftover chicken, cherry tomatoes from our garden, frozen baby carrots, cucumber slices and an orange.

image
Breakfast+Lunch+Snack: Slice of Portuguese bread with crunchy peanut butter and banana slices, frozen baby carrots, an apple, jello and a decaf latte with almond milk.

image
Dinner: Codfish rice (brown rice) and a salad.

image
Breakfast: Plain Greek yogurt, teaspoon of strawberry jelly, banana and peach slices, assorted seeds.
What I’m reminiscing about:

Nothing much. I went to my friend’s apartment last week, which is our old apartment and some memories came to mind.

What I’m loving:

My diet, my blog, going to the pool, watching movies and documentaries. Something else I’ll tell you soon.

What we’ve been up to:

We went to the pool yesterday, we watch movies together and cook together. I’ve been trying to be more active on social media, get organized when it comes to blogging, catching up with your posts, answering old comments and trying to be healthier.

What I’m dreading:

I was dreading having to read Harry Potter, but now I freed myself from such task.

What I’m working on:

The usual. My health, both physical and mental and my July goals.

What I’m excited about:

Going to the beach and to the pool.

What I’m watching/reading:

I’ve been watching a few documentaries, The Godfather, and some YouTube videos. I’m currently reading Death With Interruptions by the Portuguese author and Nobel Prize winner, José Saramago.

What I’m listening to:

Spotify. A few of the moods playlist. Relax and Unwind and The Most Beautiful Songs In The World.

What I’m wearing:

The usual. But right now? A red nightgown from Primark as a dress. Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.

What I’m doing this weekend:

Maybe swimming and meeting my friends.

What else is new:

So, this is where the good news come.

First: Remember I told you we could not spare the money for my tuition and that I couldn’t take my exams? Well, Rui went through our accounts and saving and did his magic and decided we can afford it and not become homeless (kidding).

Second: My phone is shit, my camera is shit. My phone was super slow and freezing all the time and doing crazy stuff and the camera quality was a little shitty. My camera is from 2013 and apparently not so good anymore, especially with colors. So we decided to buy me an iphone (no, we’re not reach, we bought it through my service provider plan. Isn’t it how everyone buys iphones? Or you just get there and pay 400 or 800€.

I bought the iphone SE 32GB and I’m in love. It’s so fast, so user-friendly, so easy, so amazing. I bought the gold version:

I was super lucky because it was the last one at the store in this color. And even luckier because they were offering  a big discount for this phone.

I was in desperate need of a good phone as I use it so much for EVERYTHING. Calls, text messages, whatsapp, Skype, WordPress, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, to receive and send emails from all of my accounts and more. When I worked, I 100% depended on my phone and I imagine it will be like that again when I go back to work.

I’m very happy about these two things. Time to finish my post.

What about you?

Have you received any good news lately?

What is something that you’re loving right now?

Thank you so much for being so patient through this blogging break. Love you all.

Chey

  1. No problem, Chey. I’d wait forever if you asked.
Also congrats on the phone. It’s looking great.
Also, I’m loving your diet so far.. everything looks so yummy.
As for the good news, I’ll tell you when I find out that something you said you’ll tell us later. 😛

P.S. What’s a service provider plan? I’m not familiar with that. We usually just save up and go pay the cash.

  2. Congrats! Glad you get the new phone 😉
Your meals look so healthy! I need to learn from you.
I ordered a camera for my birthday gift and I think it will arrive next week! And it is a bundle. It saves me a lot of money! I think I will in love with photography for a while.

  3. Oh my, congratulations girlie! That iphone is pretty. What’s her name gonna be? Lovely of Rui to crack into his funds but it is all for a good cause as any. Time to prep for the exams then, eh?

Well done with the healthy eating, Cheila. It requires effort but it’s worth it.

Did you manage to read Harry Potter then? I could not get if you meant that you are done with reading the series or if you have just decided to not read them. Death With Interruptions sounds mighty intriguing xx

    • It’s been only a few days and I’m so happy with it. Great quality. And I used to say iphones were a waste of money and you were paying the brand bla bla. They are really good and last longer

  4. Ooh congratulations on the new phone! Mine is the same colour and I love it – I do loads on my phone, it’s actually a Huawei, and the camera is brilliant too. Love your meals…although I’ll pass on the carrots! 😸💕xx

  5. Lots of good news! Well done to Rui for utilizing the funds and finding a way to get you to take the exams! You have a special on there 🙂
Also, that phone is lovely! All these new phones are sometimes just as good as actual cameras now, so you’ll be able to get some amazing shots!
Loved catching up with you as always in these 🙂

  7. Oh my goodness, girl you are being blessed all the way around! School exams are on, not sleeping on the street(even though I know this one was a joke, it warranted honourable mention) AND a new phone!! There’s no stopping you now. We’ll have blogs/vlogs from the beach, store, pool, garden, the sky is the limit! So happy you are receiving all these blessings!

  8. It looks like you’ve been keeping up with your healthy eating so far lately! Good! I kind of want an orange now, haven’t had one in years I think!
And your good news both are so exciting💖💖✨✨ I can’t wait to finally upgrade my phone or at least get more storage

    • How are you, my love? Are you serious about the orange? Years? I was in desperate need of a new phone. I bought this one in December and it was already impossible to use. So slow, no storage, always freezing or doing funky stuff. I hope you can get a new one soon.

      • I’m okay just dealing with this change that I’m going to make. I’m actually about to just go ahead and get into it. I’ve been feeling and having thoughts about it the past couple of weeks. I know it’s going to set me back a little but I feel like this is what I really want to do. Other than that things are okay, not as stressful as last month- so far. How about you? We haven’t caught up with each other much lately besides what we read on our blogs

  9. It’s my eldest daughter’s 6th birthday. Loving that she is growing into an intelligent, kind and mature person who knows what she wants and always tries her best.
And my husband will finally be home on Sunday after 4 weeks away, even if it’s just for 24 hours.

  10. Your food looks delicious! I’m so happy Rui could find the funds! I normally just pay outright on my phone because we don’t have a plan (my dad hates being tied to a contract), but it’s such a huge expense that I don’t know if I’ll continue to do that.

  11. Omg I’m so glad that you guys can afford it! Good luck on your exams (: I know you’ll do great. Btw that food all looks so yummy and I hope you enjoy your new phone too xoxo

    • I’m really happy too. I thought I would have to spend another year and twice the money to actually finish. But Rui is really good at managing our finances (we have everything together, it’s never his money or my money, it’s our money) and he found a way that we can spend that amount without getting super low on budget or savings. I’ve eaten better since I started to eat like this. Portuguese people eat dinner food for lunch, we have two cooked meals a day. I decided I would try the American way and eat little bits of many things and it really suits me. I’m in love with my phone. I’ve never had one that was such good quality. I hope it lasts for a few years lol
