It’s World Book Day! So, tell me about your favorite books and a story about you and a book.

Book suggestions wanted!!

Bonus points if you tell me how this book makes you feel and a story about you and a book.

– I remember I was reading Emma by Jane Austen when I met Rui. We’d text back and forth so those pages were filled with excitement and texting breaks.

– When we started dating, I was reading The Catcher in The Rye and I remember sitting at the cafe, half paying attention to it, because I was so nervous, waiting for him to meet me.

Your turn!

  1. Awww, that’s sweet. I love Where I Belong by Gillian Cross just because of how much I connect to the story and the characters and because it’s about the real world. The beautiful lyrical writing makes me feel both emotional and empowered at the same time. Other favourites are: Artichoke Hearts by Sita Brahmachari, Jasmine Skies (which is by her as well), The Cherub series by Robert Muchamore, Moonlight Dreamers and a loads more.

  2. I LOVE books! My favorite are still Nancy Drew! Somehow I always ended up at the bookstore with my Dad and we would get like ten books at a time. He would carry them for me, and people would come up this thinking he worked there. Such good memories. ❤

  3. I loved Ready Player One. As is often the case, the book was far better than the movie – but that may be because the book is aimed squarely at my generation – I grew up in the 1980s, so a lot of the references (very few of which remain in the movie) were relate-able.

I can never think of favourite books – I forget what I have read. I did like Anna Karenina, also liked Jurassic Park (also much better than the movie), and Contact, by Carl Sagan.

    • Oh – and On the Road was pretty good too (I expect there is a huge swathe of US college leavers that hate it though, after studying it)

  4. I too love books and reading in general. I read pretty much all genre. Just finished children of blood and bone and it give me a lot of pride to read this author’s positive colorful story set in west Africa full of adventure and culture.

  5. I still have a soft spot for Harry Potter, just cause I grew up reading it. I used to walk home from school reading it (my sister was with me and helped me avoid walking into poles…or cars) 🙂

  6. Dreamhouse by Marzia Bisognin. It’s her first ever novel and it’s extremely well written. It’s a physiological thriller/mystery and her uses of imagery are fantastic. My boyfriend and I read this aloud to each other, alternating chapters, and it was such a wonderful experience. I had never read a book that way, but it was interesting to bounce ideas and predictions off each other (:

  7. Your book memories are so sweet! My all-time favorite book is the Bible and I love The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas because it started my love for all things French and adventure.

  8. Happy (late) World Book Day! Emma and The Catcher in the Rye. Two great books. 👍
Favourite book: Gone With The Wind. I stalled on reading this because when we watched it in school I couldn’t get past the shock of the infidelity and I was told by my English teacher to read it because apparently Scarlett is me. I read it a few years later and loved it.
