8 Random Things That Really Freak Me Out

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

My post for today is very random, I know. I was walking the other day and actually crossed the road so I wouldn’t have to walk under some scaffolding. It got me thinking “What else freaks me out this much?” and so I came up with a list.

These are the 10 things that I try to avoid like the plague.

Walking under scaffolding.

Yes, I’m afraid someone will drop a hammer or a whole person will fall on top of me.

Getting any sort of anesthesia.

People keep asking me if I’m afraid of giving birth and honestly, for now, my only fear is getting anesthesia. I’m not sure I want an epidural and it makes me very nervous to think about getting anesthesia in case I need a cesarean section. There’s something very scary about being sedated or not being in possession of my full capacities. Maybe that’s why I’ve never drank or taken drugs.

Radiation.

Oh the anxiety I get every time I have to get an x-ray or a CAT scan. It’s a nightmare. Just the little radiation danger signs give me the hibby jibbies.

Deep, dark water.

If I can’t see the bottom, I’m not getting in. And I’ll never ever jump from a high place into a pool, lake or river.

Security cameras.

No idea why, they just scare me.

Answering calls from unknown numbers.

I’ll do the millennial thing and google the number before I take the call. I’m always afraid someone is calling me before something bad happened or somebody died.

Motorcycles.

They’re very dangerous and I wouldn’t ride one if you paid me good money.

Airplane takeoffs.

The speed, the noise, the feeling. I hate it. I won’t stop travelling by plane anytime soon, but I can assure you I’ll be hating every minute.

What about you? What freaks you out?

Would love to read about it in the comments.

Love,

Cheila

  1. This was so interesting and it was brave of you to share your fears! The sedation thing pulled at me as a topic of conversation as it’s happened to me a few times and on the very last (when I had my wisdom teeth removed) I wasn’t even told I would be put to sleep! I knew it was an option but I hadn’t realized that when they were explaining how something involved would be too difficult for me to be awake for, it meant I’d be sedated. I only realized when the needle went in and had a short moment to worry before I went drowsy and woke up with it done. At first I thought, with this shock it won’t work but nope, it took me! 🤣 I was more so annoyed because I had to pay extra for it tho which is a scheme if there ever was one! 😂 Ahh same, tbh I hate phone calls full stop unless they’re with a select few people in my life because there’s always this pressure to talk there and then whereas in person you can take your time but I guess with the pandemic that’s just not possible as much anymore. Lately on my phone it’ll tell me where the call is coming from or where it was coming from if I’ve missed it and if it’s a scam then it dawn’s on me that they must’ve gone to the lengths of purchasing an area code close by which is crazy! The biggest thing that creeps me out even tho they’re actually small are butterflies 🙈. If one comes close I’ll be gone in the blink of an eye, I just hate how fast they are! They’re like big flying spiders, I’d even rather see a wasp or a bee! Pictures even have me recoiling 😬🤣. Anyway, this was fun to consider! Great post lovely 💖

    • Gosh, if I had been put to sleep without being told it would happen I would be being MAD. I kinda get your thing with butterflies lol I think they’re beautiful but wouldn’t want one to actually touch me.

  2. LOL, I also hate deep water, but it’s because I hate getting my eyes wet. And the anesthesia thing is real. I got an epidural for my first kid, and I hated that it stopped my labor and then I couldn’t walk for so long afterwards. For my second, I powered through, but then got the shakes. That was no fun, but way better. I think I generally recovered faster, too.

    • Your comment is so encouraging. People keep telling me that I’m crazy for considering not having an epidural and that I’ll be begging for it when the time comes. They don’t seem to understand why I’d want to be in pain when I have the chance to do it pain free. I don’t find it that strange as women have been doing it for so long and pain medication has only been an option for less than a century.

      • With medication isn’t totally pain-free. I think it also depends on the size of the baby. Nora was significantly smaller than Noah. Ha! I think I did beg for an epidural, but it was too late. I had a baby about 10 minutes later.
