If we were having coffee…

I don’t think I’ve done one of these before, so I thought I might do one now because we do need to catch up, so we might as well do it over coffee, right?

If we were having coffee…

It would have to be iced. We’re going through a major heat wave right now and I might not make it through the record breaking temperatures. I don’t do well with hot weather at all, so I’m going through hell. My feet and ankles are extremely swollen by noon, I got this weird sweat burns under my boobs, sort of like a diaper rash but under my breasts. It burns like a motherfucker. On top of that, I have this small heat rash on my chest and tummy, very itchy. Good genes here. Send help.

If we were having coffee…

I would tell you, after trying my hardest not to talk about it, that I’m having some family issues that are affecting my health. I don’t deal well with conflict and I can’t stand the suffering of those I love, so I can’t keep my balance when something happens to someone close to me. This situation that I won’t get into has triggered my anxiety, something I hadn’t had to deal in many months. My doctor has chosen to increase one of my meds until I learn to deal with what is going on. She says I’m doing well except for this episode and that we only need to keep an eye on my health once fall comes because it is a difficult time for those who suffer from bipolar disorder.

If we were having coffee…

I’d tell you I love my job. I’ve met great people and laugh all day long. It’s pretty easy and the day goes by very quickly. I leave at 5, when it’s still really nice outside.

If we were having coffee…

I’d talk about how much I wanna throw half of our things away. We own too much stuff and I’m so tired of seeing junk everywhere. It’s harder to clean and it stresses me out just by looking at it. I’ve been getting rid of things every time I clean and it feels great to simplify.

If we were having coffee…

I’d mention how I wish I was reading more. I haven’t been reading at all. I would then ask you if you’re reading anything good at the moment.

I’d talk about shows, I do love my shows. I’ve been watching The Affair and Sharp Objects and wanting to get into Orange is the New Black. I’d want to know what you’re watching.

I’d definitely talk about my podcasts. I listen to at least one episode every night. We would end up talking about true crime which might freak you out a little if you’re not into it.

If we were having coffee…

I’d tell you how much I miss blogging and everyone and how bad I feel for slacking. We’d talk about blogging and everyone we know.

What would you tell me if we were having coffee?

I miss you.

Love,

Chey.

  1. I live in England but I am from Portugal, I was so shocked when my family said how hot it is there! I’ll be visiting in a couple months so hopefully it is a lot cooler 😅 I hope you’re okay, you are so brave and I hope you start feeling a lot better soon! I know it is difficult when you have a bad mental health time and it gets you down but it is good you’re enjoying your job! Xx

  2. If we were having coffee I would say Im so glad that we listened when we were told don’t go to Spain and Portugal in August! They told us it would be hot but not that hot! If we were having coffee I would first give you a big hug, and say to you I love you and Im here for you xx…If we were having coffee, I would agree with you re “junk” it drives me insane. Also those who don’t put things away, because I might need it at sometime! Argh…If we were having coffee, which would still be a warm flat white plus a jug of cold water with lemon or oranges, we would have a laugh, a cry – cause laughing till you cry is good for you, then a hug, a shrug and then we would laugh again. Im so glad you are loving your job xx Till we meet again over coffee xx

    • Oh, dear Bree. You’re the sweetest. It’s been crazy hot. If you had come a few weeks ago you’d get crazy wind and rain and if you had come this week you’d get The Sahara. You’re such a good friend, Bree. I love you and I will be waiting for that hug to happen soon. Gosh, I know some people who keep all of their school books and class notes from grade 1 to 12 and college. What the hell? That’s useless paper. I keep a couple of things as keepsakes but that’s like two books, not 10 boxes. And some people keep all of their toys in the attic. I have 2 or 3, mostly stuffed animals, everything else is gone. I keep memories, not things. Rui and I often joke about what we would save in a fire. I’d get the dog and run, screw everything else. Love you, dear 🙂

  3. Hope your family are all ok and you work things out soon! I’m reading Still Me by Jojo Moyes at the moment and it’s really good 🙂 Glad you’re enjoying your job and hopefully we see you back with another post soon!

  4. If we were having coffee I’d have an iced one and tell you….Oh my goodness! That is mighty hot. My daughter comes to Portugal on Wednesday so I hope it cools a little although she is on holiday; very different if you are living in it everyday. Your job sounds great; so glad you are enjoying it. Xx

  5. Miss you, Cheila!!! So nice to have a chat & coffee with you!!! ♡ I hope the weather cools down over there soon! & that your anxiety doesn’t get any worse — sorry about whatever it is your family is dealing with. It is so good to hear that you’re loving your new job.♡

  6. Love this and I miss you! I can’t believe the temperatures you’ve been having. It’s been bad enough here! I feel you on the owning too much stuff. Living back home means that pretty much everything I own has ended back up in my room and I’m starting to feel a bit claustrophobic in it. I’m slowing starting to get rid of things now!

    • I feel you. I remember been “limited” to one room. But it doesn’t get better lol more space means you get more stuff. Rui and I have lived together for over 3 and a half years. We’ve moved 3 times and each time we have twice the furniture, and so much more stuff than we had when we first moved into that house. The only thing I don’t get rid of is books. Everything else I don’t mind purging.

      • Can never get rid of books! I’ve got a few that I’ll give to the charity shop every now and then if I really don’t like them and never plan to read again but I can’t get rid of them easily!

  7. I was like this a few months ago with our house and all the stuff we had built up over time! I went through like 6 weeks of decluttering and got a deep clean of the house done, wow it made all the difference! Cleaning now is not a chore and the house is so much more airy and breezy!! Do it pretty lady you’ll be happier for sure!! xx

The temps have been way too hot here too. It is miserable. I like summer but feel that time should be over now!
Thanks for having coffee with me today
