Life Update – Work, Health, Reading, Watching, Doing, Going

Hello dearest WordPress population and fellow blogging neighbors and friends!!

I’m alive!!

I have been busy as you can probably tell by my absence.

I thought I would take the time to update you on whatever I’m doing these days:

I have actually missed work today because I’m dealing with a nasty cold since Friday. So far I’ve had to miss a wedding on Saturday, work and a birthday dinner today. Damn you cold. Damn you sinusitis that shows up whenever I have a cold just to torture me even more.

Mental Health:

I’m so much better. Really, I mean it. I haven’t had anxiety or panic attacks in months. I haven’t been feeling any of the usual depression symptoms. I think I’m finally on the right medicine combination. I feel well, I sleep well and I’m generally happy. Being busy might also have a role to play in this. I thrive on being a busy bee and having a task list.

I’m so happy with my job. The kids are both cute, funny and difficult but I love working with them. My colleagues are so nice. I feel like I’ve won the job lottery. It’s the first time I actually feel 100% fulfilled with a job.

My freelance work is going great as well. No lack of work. There’s always something coming up and I love the work I do and the extra money I get besides my salary. It’s good to be able to have a side income and a pretty good one, thank God.

Well, we definitely need to do some cleaning. It hasn’t been a priority which I understand and accept but it still bothers me. We have been wearing clothes directly from the laundry basket for way too long.

I have been reading more because I’m now used to reading kindle books on my phone. I think I’ve told you I finished After You. Then I began The Substitute by Denise Grover Swank, which is part of the series and the first book I’ve ever read by this author. It was fun to read, I would give it 4 stars, considering the genre and quality of writing. If I think about great classics I would probably give it a 2 but I need to be fair.

Then I read another book in just one day. I was bed-ridden on Saturday and didn’t have internet so reading was my only hope, while everyone else was stuffing themselves at the wedding. I read Golden Chances by Rebecca Hagan Lee. Another series (period one) and another author I did not know. I would give this book 4 stars as well, despite the fact that I liked it more than the latter. Different genres and I know I favor this one. It’s about 350 pages but I started it and finished it in a few hours.

I then began Diary of a Sex Addict’s Wife: The First Year, which is pretty good so far. It’s exactly what the title says. A woman discovers that her partner of 20 years has been having sex with prostitutes and hiring escort services for the last five. The book is about her thought process in dealing with such discovery and with what her marriage has become. There’s a lot of pain and doubt and loneliness and broken trust.

Outlander has come back to me. Rui loves it too after watching the first 2 seasons so we’re enjoying season 3 together. It’s such a good show. Please watch it. I plan on reading the 8 books the series is based on.

American Horror Story season 7 has begun and, as always, I’m not convinced yet. Too weird. Three episodes in and I have no idea what it is all about.

I’m finishing season 4 of The Tudors. I’m going to miss it, actually. It’s been fun watching the life of Henry VIII unfold. They have just executed his 5th wife, Catherine Howard, for adultery. That’s where I’m at.

I have also watched Annabelle: creation expecting it to be the shittiest ever and was surprised to find it was not that bad, at least in my humble opinion. Most people I know that have watched it found it pretty bad but both Rui and I enjoyed it.

I want to watch It as soon as I get the chance.

Well, I guess this is pretty much it for today.

  1. That cold still attacking you? It’s one of the most annoying sicknesses out there. You’ve watched and read a decent amount on top of working 😄 I haven’t read anything this month which makes me a little annoyed. But I’ll get around to it eventually 😄

    • I’m so much better today, honey. I have, surprisingly. I guess it’s because I’ve been spending more time in transportation or away from home during the day. There’s always reading breaks to be had 🙂 Dear, you have just moved, I’m surprised you even have time to eat lol

    • I’m really happy about it too. It has been with me non-stop for so long. I’m sad about this season as well. I know he was a bastard but in 4 seasons you kind of bond with the guy and he’s getting old and fat and his leg is getting worse day by day. But yes, his poor wives.

I feel especially sad for Anne Boleyn because she was unfairly accused of adultery and incest and she had a little daughter. Jane Seymour dies in child labor which is a pity because she was such a sweet lady.

But most of all, I feel for Catherine of Aragon, his first wife. Such a devoted and loving wife and she literally gets abandoned after almost 25 years of marriage, which he manages to get annulled after so long and for no legitimate reason. I imagine how desperate I would feel if, after so long, a daughter, several miscarriages and child losses, my husband would deny we were ever legally and legitimately married. Poor lady. And then she was kept from her daughter and left to die in poverty. His father seemed to be a much better king and man (I loved watching Henry XVII on the miniseries The White Princess). Thank you for always reading, my dearest friend. ❤

      • Your blogs is a blessing to read :):) so of course I do 🙂 Yes, His first wife really got the short end of the stick. I don’t think he ever really wanted to marry her in the first place but is seems from the series that he really liked her, had admiration for her, but he wanted his new young love. Therefore Catherine had to become his enemy, and accused her of consummating her first marriage to his brother. Which of course meant he could get an annulment. I don’t think he believed that. It was just a convenient way to get the new woman he wanted.

I know he was king and all but I do believe with his track record, I would have RAN if I saw him coming.

Apparently the women on the show aren’t the only women either. Henry supposedly was really in love with Anne’s sister(Mary) and fathered 2, children with her. She was his mistress before Anne got her hooks into him.

    • Thank you 🙂 From what I’ve read so far, her husband had only been having sex to prostitutes for the 5 years before she found out. It is very risky anyway. She talks about taking STD tests as soon as she found out and they were all negative, so she was pretty lucky. He swears to have used protection but how are you going to trust someone who has been hiding such a hideous secret for so long?

    • Hey Amelia!! Thanks for dropping by. I’m much better today (Wednesday). I missed work on Monday and stumbled to work on Tuesday but I’m much better today. My mental health is doing fine these days, thankfully. I’ve learned that it is usually temporary and that ups and downs and unavoidable so I’m taking advantage of it as long as I can. I hope you are well, my dear. Hugs.

  2. Good to hear everything is going so well for you! Except for the nasty cold and all the fun things and work you have to miss out on! Hope you feel better soon!

  3. I am sooo happy to hear that you’re feeling more mentally well, Cheila! Glad you’ve found what works for you 🙂 I’m so sorry about the cold, though!! Any time I get sick, I either get a sinus infection with it, or some other type of bacterial infection (like strep lol) that has me on antibiotics for weeks. It’s madness, haha! I had strep back at the beginning of August and I was feeling BAD. The fun part was, that was also the week I started my senior year of high school hahaha, so I really couldn’t put my all into my work, as I was so darn sleepy! Also, I have to mention, it also makes me happy that you are doing a job that you love! You deserve it, girlie! ❤ ❤
