Hey you!!
I’ve kind of absent still, haven’t I?
It’s because I’ve either been working or watching The Tudors. I had watched a couple of episodes a few years ago and then stop and never thought about it again. The last historical drama I watched was The White Princess which is depicts the reign of Henry VII so I thought I would move on to a show that would address his crazy son, Henry the VII, the main character in The Tudors. I’m half way through season 2 and love it.
My favorite part is to be able to watch Sir Thomas More as a character. I studied him in college (in more than one course)a and absolutely loved his book Utopia, which is one of my favorite books ever. I really admire him for his beliefs and it was really exciting to watch him “come to life”. Of course I shed a tear (or 20) when his head was cut off because he wouldn’t give in and change is ideals for those of the king, refusing to acknowledge him as head of the church of England, among other changes that were happening. I’m not spoiling anything, I hope, this is History and you probably know about it already.
I just found out he was canonized as a Saint and felt pretty stupid because how could I have missed that detail in class? Well, maybe it was an 8 a.m class?
So, I’ve obviously been back working, although I have yet to start my job number one because kids are still at home for the Summer. School starts on the 15th. Question: Why do you all keep saying “Summer is over” and thinking about fall things with about 20 days of Summer to go? For me, Fall doesn’t start until the 21st.
Anyway, I have a meeting at 7 p.m, if it doesn’t get cancelled again.
Oh, I haven’t told you a very funny (for me) part: To go to work, I’ll have to walk 2 km (about 1.24 miles) which doesn’t seem like much but it does if you’re lazy.
Talking about lazy, I’m not doing any August wrap-up or anything because I just feel like I haven’t been productive enough to share so, maybe next month?
My list of tasks for today is kind of long but I think I woke up early enough to finish it. I won’t do any laundry because it rained a lot and it looks like it’s going to rain again soon. (Yes, I dry my laundry outside, all year round).
To do list:
- Client 3 – 2 pieces of writing, 500 words each.
- Client 1 – Send report of finished task; 500 word article;
- Client 4 – Send “Table of Contents” (I’m getting paid to write an e-book)
- Client 5 – Small task and send report;
- Put away huge load of laundry;
- Change bed sheets;
- Do a bit of gardening;
That’s it for today, lovely people.
See you soon?
Great!

I used to walk about an hour to and from work last year 🙂 You’ll get used to it quickly and it’ll soon feel like a really short walk! 🙂

I know, it’s just because it’s new. Wow, you walked for 2 hours each day to go to work. How long was your shift?

I worked 8:30-3:30

7 hours. How does it work in England? Do you get a lunch break? Do you get a small break? Here in Portugal, after 5 hours you have the right to a 15 minute break. If you work over 6 you have to have 1 hour for lunch or dinner plus the 15 minute break.

Erm I’m not sure really. I worked in a school so In my 7h day I basically got the 15 mins “playtime” the kids had in the morning and a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Not sure how that compares or anything or if that’s normal!

Unpaid lunch break? Really?

That’s bad!! Our lunch breaks count as an hour of work, plus we get lunch money

I know. They should really count it. It might have been different for me though on my contract. I was only a mere teaching assistant 😭

Doesn’t matter. Even in McDonald’d, you have paid lunch time. It’s like “We don’t pay you to eat” lol

I know! But what annoyed me most was I didn’t even get paid for holidays I only got paid every hour I worked. So even though I had to have school holidays off I didn’t get paid for them

Wow that’s not nice at all. You were paid by the hour? Is that how it works?

I effectively got paid for every hour I worked, which was then divided up throughout the year so I got equal pay every month. So even though I didn’t work in August I still got paid in August because of how they divided the pay. If that made sense?

Sure, I understand

It wasn’t a very well paid job basically!

I see. It’s because you’re young. People take advantage. Been there

Yep! But that said, I don’t regret it! I made some great friends that year and at the end of the day it was a rewarding job 🙂

busy day! I know summer is over for us due to school starting on august 8. the weather has also dramatically cooled down here in Indiana, which is very unusual.

Well it rained last night but it’s still in the 20’s C most days. Sometimes it gets chilly at night and I need some pajama long pants and socks. I’m always cold anyway so 😅

An e-book, that’s so cool! Will we be able to read it?

Hahaha, I’m not sure you’ll be interested. I was asked to write a cooking book of sweets and desserts made with… Cannabis. I’m a open mind so I don’t have any issue with it but some people might

I always say seasons are over the second the new month hits. But the weather doesn’t normally follow that, they aren’t exact times it changes over. But people on your side of the world either seem excited or sad that fall is coming 🙂

That’s awesome that you’re getting paid to write an e-book and I don’t feel like summer is over yet, either! I’m with ya! 😊
