Hey there, dear friends!
How is everyone doing? Are you still enjoying Summer? A vacation maybe? Or are you already back to work and super busy? Did you go somewhere this Summer? If not, are you going?
I’m still at home but, as I’ve mentioned before, full organization mode, before the school year starts and I’m back at work and back to being busy. I intend to share my daily tasks and to-dos as I have done for the past 6 months.
What am I up to today?
Deep cleaning and organizing our bedroom:
- Cleaning under and behind furniture (bed, nightstands, wardrobe, dresser, clothes rack, dressing table, mirror);
- Take big area rug outside to be pressure washed;
- Vacuum floor and corners, cobwebs;
- Dust and clean light switchers, outlets, door knob, furniture handles;
- Clean windows;
- Organize clothes and shoes;
- Dust and clean furniture;
- Mop floor;
Work on “Online Work – Project A”:
- I’ve mentioned I’m working online as a virtual assistant and I’m involved in a few projects. I intend to complete this particular project today. It’ll probably take me an hour/ one hour and a half;
- Print screen tasks and send to client. Report to client;
Work on “Online Work – Project A.1”:
- Same client, different task. This might take me a while longer, maybe 2 hours.
- Report to client;
Work on “Online Work – Project B”:
- Different client, somewhat easy task. It might take over an hour. I’ll start today and see how far I can go.
- Report to client;
Keep working on online magazine along with my colleagues:
- We’re almost done, but there’s always back and forth conversation and brainstorming going on either Whatsapp or email;
Cook dinner:
- I’m making grilled salmon with veggies;
Answer some comments:
- I’m so late, people will wonder who the hell am I hahaha. But I need and want to answer comments left by my readers;
Read a few blog posts:
- I’ve been the worst blogger and friend and haven’t being reading blogs at all. I miss it and I want to go through a few, hopefully many.
My general goal is to become as active as I was before my long blogging hiatus and to go back to my general routines, while preparing for my return to work.
Yesterday it was one of my best friend’s birthday and we went over for dinner. I don’t know how but I kind of ended up playing “dungeons and dragons”. I don’t usually like games but it was quite fun, actually. Probably because there were many of us and we all picked silly names (except for me, I went with Belinda).
My friend and her boyfriend cooked us dinner and we had the most wonderful cheesecake. My friend (Catarina, that’s her name) is so good with baking and desserts. Dinner, which was a traditional seafood and rice dish was delicious as well.
One of my friend’s boyfriend went to college with me and we shared a few classes. We both love literature and classics and we always take an opportunity to talk about books and what we’ve been reading. He’s my favorite person to talk to when it comes to books because we kind of have similar taste and know the same authors.
Everyone was as funny as ever, I really had a good time.
Then I came home and chatted with my other group of favorite people, my online blogger best friends (I don’t love them just because they are bloggers, they’re just the most wonderful and some of the most inspiring women I know. I’m talking about my dearest Angela, Arundhati (A.K.A Cathy), Lyz and Pamela. Love you, girls.
I then watched a few episodes of “The White Queen”, a miniseries. Have you watched it?
A portrayal of one of the most dramatic and turbulent times in English history. A story of love and lust, seduction and deception, betrayal and murder, it is uniquely told through the perspective of three different, yet equally relentless women – Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beaufort and Anne Neville. In their quest for power, they will scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The year is 1464, before the Tudor dynasty ruled the country, and war has been ravaging throughout England over who is the rightful King. It is a bitter dispute between two sides of the same family, The House of York and The House of Lancaster. The House of York’s young and handsome Edward IV is crowned King of England with the help of the master manipulator, Lord Warwick “The Kingmaker.” But when Edward falls in love with a beautiful Lancastrian commoner, Elizabeth Woodville, Warwick’s plan to control the throne comes crashing down. A violent, high-stakes struggle ensues between Elizabeth, her most fierce adversary, Lancastrian Margaret Beaufort, and Anne Neville, the pawn in her father’s power game – each woman vying for the crown.

I’m so into period and historical dramas and I’m always looking for the next one. This one is very, very good and I’m really enjoying watching it.
Well, now I’m off to get things done!
What are you watching or reading that you would like to share with us?
What are you doing these days? Holidays or work?
As always, thank you so much for coming by.
I want grilled salmon and veggies :):) Then you had to go and mention cheesecake. hahaha. I’ve been wanting to eat A LOT the past few days. I was writing a few stories for the blog, living life, boring, boring stuff over here. :):) Oh, before I forget, you are not a bad friend, or blogging friend because you have had “life”, and haven’t been able to be as present as you would like. If they are your friends, really, then they will understand that life happens :):):) I love, love, love period movies. Hubby not so much hahaha but he knows if there is one on, then I’m watching it. Good, bad, or ugly, I want to see it. It’s the same with old black and white movies. I want to see them all hahaha.

Oh, there will be broccoli and a boiled potato or two and maybe green beans and carrots with a drizzle of olive oil. Maybe I’ll roast some bell peppers with the salmon. Do you like roasted bell peppers? You’re so sweet. Truth is, it’s not so much about life happening. Honestly I’ve actually been lazy to sit and write. I’ve been giving preference to other activities, such as watching series, documentaries and movies, listening to an audio book and reading another. Nothing to productive but sometimes you just don’t want to think much. Period movies and shows are my favorite for sure. Rui doesn’t care for them either, but I’ve been bugging him to watch Outlander for so long that he decided he would and he loved it! Watched 2 seasons in a few days. My dream is to watch all of the movies that ever won or were nominated for an Oscar. Starting in the 1920’s and coming all the way. I’m covered since about 2012 until now, I just need to go back to before that 🙂 ❤

I’m with you. The mention of cheesecake derailed all thought processes and I’m considering making a run to grab some, although I have a perfectly good regular cake already on my cake stand. Talk about a dilemma. When I was a teenager, me and my sister would wonder the aisles of Blockbuster movie and search for every black and white film we hadn’t seen yet. Marilyn Monroe films like Some Like It Hot or Gentlemen Prefer Blondes were special favorites. I miss those films and should definitely get back to watching them!

hahaha. I have been fighting a bakery run for days. I have to let the feeling pass a bit or I’ll buy too much, then eat too much hahaha. Aww Marilyn was so fun too watch her play roles. I love TCM(turner classic movies) it runs old movies, all day, every day, with no commercial interruptions 😉

Yes, I always forget about that channel. I didn’t even realize it was commercial free. Thanks for the reminder to watch it 🙂

No worries, it’s the best for old movies.

I don’t know why but I never go for that genre. But the tittle sounds very appealing, I might put it on my list. 🙂

Great to hear from you! Justin and I are off work today, celebrating 22 months together and waiting to see the eclipse. We’re probably going to make tilapia for dinner together tonight. I’ve been watching Reign on Netflix and I’m almost done with season 3- it’s really a great show if you haven’t seen it, I recommend it 10/10

Great to hear from you too!! Happy anniversary to you, my dear. Rui and I always celebrate the 23rd of each month, even though it’s been about 53 months lol Oh, the eclipse is not visible from Europe, unfortunately. You’re getting all the fun. We’re both having fish for dinner, then. We don’t really eat tilapia here, it isn’t common. Reign!! I’ve heard about it but I never remember to watch it and see if I like it. I’ll definitely watch the first episode today. Thank you so much for your recommendation. ❤ 🙂

You’re killing me with the food!! It’s not lazy when you are giving preference to something else ;);) I’ve been playing scrabble the past couple of days to keep my thoughts from getting overwhelming. Hubby always says, “you’re favourite movie is one” I ask, which one. He’s says, “the black and white one” 😉 hahaha

hahahahahaha He’s funny!! I do love them too. Women used to be so classy and put together all the time. 40’s and 50’s movies are the best. Well, some of them are already in color but they’re still fascinating. The first movie I ever watched in black and white was “Gone with the wind”. I was young, imagine me watching a black and white, 1939, 4 hour -movie. But I loved it and I read the novel because of it. Now I’ve watched it with all the colors and it’s funny to know what color the dresses actually are 🙂

ahhhhh the memories. Gone with the Wind, what a great movie. It seems to get comical after it’s been watch a few times, to me. But I find myself busting out laughing when watching old movies, anyway 🙂 It’s fun to see the dynamics in the old late 1920’s and forward movies. Hubby is right, if it’s an old black and white movie, I will sit and watch it. :):):) You are right, the colours are intriguing. I saw a documentary about how they put “colour” to them. Sometimes the original colour isn’t what they make it into when they add the colour. hmmmm 🙂 Random fact hahaha 😉 🙂

Are you serious?? I’ve been fooled. I thought it was just the same. I just asked Rui (he understands about all that stuff) and he looked at me and said “How would they know what was the exact color of the dress? it’s by comparison, the one that looks more similar and fits better”

Yes, they said some of the dresses back then when they were making the films didn’t matter because it came out black and white anyway. I want to say they said that dress, the red one Scarlet wore, when they actually made the movie, the actual dress she wore for the scenes were black. lol. It was interesting.

Oh the red dress was black? Oh my. Do you know the name of the documentary?

Sweetie, I don’t. It has been years ago when I saw it. It came out shortly after they started converting them into colour. That’s haw long ago it’s been.

OMG your dinner choice sounds so good right now, I need to eat and really don’t know what to make tonight. I think I’ll just go for boring usual tuna salad. xx

Just add something else to make it not so boring. I love to add random veggies or some boiled eggs, cut in slices 🙂

Grilled salmon and veggies sounds perfect to me too.
I am reading Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan. It is one of the Mark Twain Award nominees and I use these titles to host an informal book club at my children’s school. The book is a tale told in parts of an enchanted harmonica and the role it played in some very sad lives throughout history. As I am half way through it, I find myself haunted by the ugly things humans have done to one another over the centuries but continue to hope inspired by the way music is a language we can all understand.
My 2nd year of teaching as an adjunct communications instructor for State Technical College begins tomorrow. Wish me luck!

You should read “The White Queen” by Philippe Gregory. I love those novels about the War of the Roses. There are 5 in the series.

Thanks for the shoutout Cheila. You know you’ve got my love! It was really nice to see your name in my feed. It feels a bit more homey with you here 🙂 My place is in need of a deep cleaning but we are having a huge garage sale this weekend so everything is getting pulled out of storage sheds and kept in the house for the meantime. It’s nerve-wracking to see it all, but I’ll feel 100 pounds lighter once it’s all gone.

The love is returned with full power! It is great that you are busy and working as a virtual assistant. I think every job adds a little extra to our personality. I actually loved watching The White Queen – it has been some time now but I remember it more because of Philippa Gregory’s book. Do you read her? She writes historical novels which are so engaging. xx
