Health for days journey – June 20th (update)

Hey guys,

How is everyone?

It’s so hot here, I’ve taken a cold shower. And I hate cold showers. I must confess I have been sleeping with nothing on but my panties. And I can’t even tolerate a sheet covering me. We do have a fan but we’re trying to be frugal and not use it. We sleep with both of our windows open and it helps a little. I sweat so much just doing stuff around the house.

Tomorrow is my mom’s birthday. She will be 42. Yes, she’s a very young mom. She had me at 16 and my sister at 20. I love that she is still in her forties. I’m going to her house in the morning and then I have my therapy appointment at 3 p.m and then I’ll go back to have dinner with my family. Rui will meet us there. I must find a way to have time to buy her a nice present.

Reflecting on my day, I did lots of things, but nothing I had actually planned.

I tried to study but my brain can’t do it right now, with the new medication and all. I’m not sure how things will be regarding my exams. I will do the 3 mandatory ones for sure, maybe leave the other 4 for September? Or maybe just give up on my second minor. It’s sad but I’m just not productive as I need to be right now. I’m still deciding on what to do. My brain is not cooperating at all. My memory is shit, I read one page and have to go back many times. I used to be a fast reader. Now, I’m slow and I just keep forgetting things. I can’t seem to focus either. It’s frustrating but I need to accept this season of my life and just do the best that I can.

My list for today was:

  • Finish folding all of the laundry and putting it away; – This actually happened;
  • Do some gardening, focus on watering and maybe planting some new seeds. I have a few empty pots and beds; – Just watered;
  • Make dinner; – Not today, as I’m worried and anxious. I’m having cereal, he’s having scrambled eggs;
  • Read at least 30 pages from the book I’m trying to finish; – I read quite a bit last night but haven’t touched today yet;
  • Take out the recycling; – Nope;

What I actually did was:

  • Try to study for 30 minutes and failing miserably;
  • Fold and put away a ton of laundry;
  • Dust my bedroom;
  • Catch up on a few blogs;
  • Organize my study materials that were all over the place;
  • Make my bed;
  • Organize the living room table;
  • Wash the blankets from the sofa;
  • Talk to my mom on the phone;
  • Reorganize my dressing table;

Not what I was planning but it was productive, so I’m fine with it.

What were you up to today?

xx

  1. It’s BAKING here in London to! We ditched the duvet and have just a sheet now! On our way home I seriously thought of stopping to buy a fan!! Not a fan of this, can’t sleep at all when its like this 😢 xx

  2. Do convey my birthday wishes to your young mother, Cheila. She is indeed young for a daughter who is in her twenties! Well you go have yourselves a blast. Put on those Mary Janes and twirl around to some music 🙂 And of course gobble a chunk of birthday cake for me. It would be a wonderful break from your studies xx

  3. Folding and putting away laundry is ALWAYS on my list, and it rarely gets done. Yikes! I am currently catching up on blogs and prepping for a new post to publish tomorrow. It is beautiful here in the States, I’m almost on the East Coast. It was warm but breezy.

  4. Aww happy early birthday to your mom! ❤ I have a young mom, too – she had me when she was 19, just a few months shy of 20 – and being so close in age is a lot of fun. 🙂 I'm sorry it's so hot where you are; I can't stand the heat!! I do a much better job tolerating cold. Our humid summers here in Georgia are so awful. I can never get the AC in our car running fast enough when we're out and about, lol. I didn't do much today – babysat my two youngest siblings, then went to the library with my mom and sister – it was a girls outing! We never have those anymore. I'll be doing my best to read a lot this week, as I have six different books checked out right now lol.

    • I can’t deal with this heat. It’s not humid but it is brutal. It’s amazing to have a young mom, they’re more understanding, cooler and we can talk to them about anything 🙂 So you have to read all six this week?

  5. Aww happy birthday to your mum! I hope your low key celebration will be fun with lots of laughs and love 🙂
    As for the weather i wish I could send you some of our breezes, as they just about knock me down at times, but they’re very refreshing

    • Thank you, dear. I think your breeze has actually got here. It’s suddenly windy and a bit cooler. Thank God, my ankles and fingers get so swollen when it’s hot. So painful

      • Oh good! I also hope that means the wind will relax a little here then. I hate swelling due to heat, I barely experience it, but the few times I have it sucks. I hope that breeze stays a while longer for you, so you don’t feel as achy and sore ❤

        • I do experience it badly every single Summer. I get so swollen I can’t even wear shoes. It’s so hurtful. I was out in the city today for about 4 hours and I had to take my rings off, it was getting so bad. A rude doctor has told me it’s because of how heavy I am. Well, I had it badly when I was 30 kg lighter. It’s just something I’ve had always suffered from. I guess it’s a mixture of bad circulation and liquid retention. And I cannot take any draining supplements because they would drain my medication along with fluids. So I do what I can: ice, putting my feet up, loose clothes, loose sandals, cold water, etc..

  7. Happy Birthday to your Mum, Cheila…do pick up a gift for her…..it rained all morning and finally stopped late afternoon…I didn’t have any early appointment so I was lucky I could stay indoors without worrying

  8. It’s been hot here in Atlanta, GA too. Happy birthday to your sweet mama, I hope you have a good time seeing her tomorrow! I love doing laundry but boy do I HATE putting it away. I don’t know what it is, but I loathe it. It just sits in the basket until everything in there is dirty again. 😫 I didn’t do much today. Worked on my giveaway post, grabbed a couple of last minute things for said giveaway (thank you for entering!!) and went back to work. I was pretty sick yesterday so I took a day off. It felt nice to get out, but I probably could have used another day of rest! Hopefully tomorrow will be better! Xoxo

  9. I clean my room too! I can’t stand for disorganized table and drawers. I hate dust on my drawer corners too. I want to clean my keyboard later this week. It looks so bad. XD
