Good evening everyone,
How was your day? I hope you’ve had/are having a good one.
I woke up at about 10 a.m, feeling super hungry, ate breakfast, went back to bed and woke up at about 3 p-m. Sleeping while Mr.R was doing his own thing. I’ve been sleeping well, despite my nightmares, but way too much.
It was super hot here and not windy, for the first time in weeks. We’ve had wind for a long time now. I hung a load of laundry and we decided it was hot enough to go to the beach, which is about 10 minutes away. Today it took longer, maybe 20 minutes, to get there because it was a public holiday in the city and lots of people come here for the beach so there was traffic. The beach was not so full, though.
We like to go to one where the river mouth meets the sea, so you have the river water, which is shallow and forms a lake and then you have the sea with big waves on the other side. We like to go and have our towels by the lake because it’s calmer and less crowded and we can get into the lake and not worry about it being dangerous. The other side is very dangerous. The waves are usually pretty big and scary so only a few people get in and there’s a ton of surfers. Here’s a few pictures I took:

We got home and decided to take a shower obviously. I forbade Mr.R to sit anywhere and told him to come and take a shower with me, so we could just get rid of all the sand and sandy clothes all at once. When we were both with shampoo and soap all over, we ran out of gas and we both had to finish our shower with COLD water. Poor us. I love a warm shower after coming home from the beach. I think it was bad Karma because we were looking at this lady’s tattoo and calling it a tramp stamp. You get what you deserve.
I then made some quick dinner (whole wheat pasta, shrimp, coconut milk, seeds, a little curry powder) and we watched 3 episodes of the new season of Ink Master. How we both like this series so much, I have no idea. We both have 0 tattoos and I don’t think any of us could rock one. We wish we could be that cool.
I’ve never mentioned this but I would actually like to have a few small tattoos. My sister and I have talked about doing one on our foot/ankle with the saying “sisters by chance, friends by choice”, so that’s the first one. I would like to have a small book and a worm going through it with the words “book-worm” on my hip, a small red heart under my left breast for each child I have and a stethoscope with a heart on the inside of my wrist if I ever become a doctor.
Will I get them? I have no idea. My skin is extremely sensitive and my pain tolerance is really low when it comes to it. When Rosa scratches me accidentally I get a huge scratch and a bruise and it really hurts. I don’t know if I could take the pain. I’m not afraid of needles, though and I have 0 issues when it comes to blood tests, vaccines, IVs, etc. so I don’t know how it might go.
Anyway, Rui works tomorrow and is home again on Thursday (another religious holiday) so we might go to the beach again. Or maybe to the pool, that would be nice.
I already have the dates for most of my exams. Unfortunately I have 2 on July 5th, one of them at 10 a.m and the other at 12. p.m. so no break between those two. Two exams on the same day is bad enough, one after the other is just bad luck. Then I have two on the 7th, one at 10 a.m and the other at 2 p.m. Two on the same day again, but at least I can have a lunch break. Then I have my Italian exam on the 18th, which is better. I don’t have the dates for Business English and North American Cinema yet.
I’ve decided to drop German, it’s just not going to be possible. I have way to much revision to do for this and it’s not mandatory so I can always do it any other time, not being a student at the university, as they have language classes for everyone who wants to attend them for a smallish price.
So I’ll do 7 exams, instead of 8. Unfortunately 4 of them are on the same week, 2 on each day, with only one day apart. It’ll be fine, I hope.
I have a few things I want to do tomorrow, studying is one of them.
So, this is my update for today.
See you tomorrow.
Love,
Cheila
Good luck on your exam! The beach looks awesome, and the tattoos you have planned sound really cool — though I don’t think I’d do it, cuz of the pain and the whole “possible skin cancer” thing! 😛

Oh, really? I had no idea you could get cancer from it

Well, the ink goes into your skin, lol.

Of course, but I had no idea the ink was harmful.. Need to do some research lol

Cheila, I’m so glad the two of you decided to go to the beach. It’s so good for everything heart and soul. I was having a hard time imagining a river meeting up with the ocean because I’ve never seen that, so it was nice to have those beautiful images. I didn’t know you have such a beautiful landscape in your backyard. Good for you!

I do 🙂 We’re really lucky. It was a great decision to have moved here. Countryside, a very calm and quiet little village but so close to the beach. It was great for my self-confidence as well. Last year I was so sick with depression and anxiety that I could not be seen in a bathing suit. I would put one on, I would get to the beach and not be able to get out of the car. I don’t think I look any better now, I just feel better so… Have you seen when two rivers meet? I have seen that as well 🙂

I’m so happy to hear this, Cheila. So often in life it’s our perspective that has to change. Based on your bathing suit post, you have some really beautiful pieces and I’m glad you’re showing them off. I always feel like the beach is somewhere that everyone should feel free. Everyday you’re getting stronger and that’s only happening because you are making the effort. Proud of you, girl!

Cheila your beach looks so cool! We also have a beach but the water is always freezing so we never go 😓 I’m sure you’ll do great on your exams!!!

It’s freezing here too, if you swim in the sea. Not the lake, though, since the water is still and shallow. Sometimes is freezing anyway because the current is sending too much water up into the lake instead of the other way around. Thank you, love 🙂

Your date by the waters on a hot day sounds dreamy. You do have a lot of exams coming up. It sounds intimidating but I bet you will ace them. All the best with the preps xx

Love the beach! Makes me want to cross the road to go to the beach now! Good luck with your exams 🙂 I remember the times of having 4 exams in 5 days. You kind of just have to laugh it off and try your best, but it’s never fun! You’ll be ok though 🙂

Oh yes, it happens every single semester. I’ve had to talk to teachers because I had 2 different exams at the exact same time. But it’ll be okay… hopefully lol Thank you, dear 🙂

When we had our exams they were always so spaced out and it took ages. One year I got them all in one week and some on the same day with no gaps. I preferred it as it meant they were over sooner and summer started quicker!! Two on two days will fly in and have it over before u know it!!
Your tattoo ideas sound so good!! I’d say do it and see how it is!! If u can handle needles and cat claws I’d say your ready! If u go into them they’ll give u a good idea as to how your skin will react if that’s a big worry!!
😘😘

Yes, I’m used to them being close together. It happens every semester. They’ll all be over soon 🙂 I think I’ll try the first one, maybe the book one and do it small, to see if I can handle it lol ❤

Good luck with them either way!!! I know it can be a stressful time with exams etc!
Do, go small to test the waters! You’ll be surprised how much pain you can take 😘 (It’s never as bad as you imagine it to be in your head!) xx

ahh The beach. I can’t wait to go this year. Our closest one is 3 hours away. I have 6 tattoos. Two of them are decently large. I say go for it! get a small one first and see how it goes. Thats what I did. But warning, they can also be very addicting!

Oh, that sucks so bad about the shower turning icy on you guys!! lol That is the worst.

Oh yes. And I’m really sensitive to cold water. Some people like it, I just shake like a scared chihuahua. That beach is really beautiful, lots of tourists book apartments close-by for their Summer vacation.

I love the pictures you got of the ocean and river, Cheila! Especially that last one; the lighting is so pretty 🙂 I’ve never heard of Ink Master before! It sounds cool, though. Haha, sometimes I enjoy watching movies/videos/shows even though I’ll never get or do the thing they’re doing myself, lol! I love how tattoos look on other people, but for me specifically, I’m not sure. Probably not. Sometimes, I’ll do temporaries hahaha, but there’s no pain involved! (Unless it doesn’t come off all the way and you have to scrub really hard ._. ) I don’t like needles, so I think I’d be to squeamish to go through with a permanent tattoo hah. I’m sorry you’re having to drop the German learning for now! A few weeks ago, I attempted to add French to my language learning studies, but that didn’t last lol. Hopefully one day! I hope you’re having an awesome Thursday, Cheila ❤ xxx

Thank you, Maggie! The show is really good because you get to see their challenges and the tattoos they come up with and the competition. It’s fun and it’s nice to see the drawings and art. We love it. I might try a small one and see if I can take the pain lol we have higher pain tolerance than men, which is good and encouraging haha Temporaries are cool, unless they are hard to take off and you either scrub yourself until your skin falls off or you rock the remains of the tattoo for 2 months lol The problem with Spanish and German is that they’re too similar. They both come from Latin and have similar words and sounds. I had a few issues when I started German because some things are very similar to English. But you could decide to pick up a second language to learn and go slowly 🙂

I only have one tattoo, me and hubby got matching arm bands. They are the same except I got mine much smaller, and higher up on my arm so it can be covered with short sleeves. If you get one or at least the first one, don’t get it on a place that has bone close to the surface, like the ankle, shoulder blade, you get my point. They hurt worse according to everyone that I know that has them. The beach you go to reminds me of the little island we go to. it’s in the channel so it’s ocean but there aren’t any waves. Very calm. If we go to the actual beach here, the waves just crash and beat you to death, not fun. Plus the beach is where all the tourist go, so it’s always jam packed with people LOL

That beach sounds wonderful. I can swim but I’m too much of a chicken to get in where there are waves. Better safe than sorry. I’m so thankful for your tattoo advice. I guess the foot tattoo with my sister is out of the question, then. I might do my hip first. No bones to be found for many miles, just a desert of fat.

You can do it but it will hurt a little more, and most people who don’t know that think, oh no it hurt and won’t get another one, not realizing it won’t hurt as bad where there is more skin and not bone. It’s not that bad, it just burns a little but it is over quick. I was surprised.
