One Month Blogging Challenge – Day 9 (My favorite types of food and recipes)

Hey there, friends!!

I’m still on a blogging break, going through of your posts, as I’m way behind!

First of all, let me remind you that I’m doing this challenge with Maggie, who came up with the idea of doing this amazing challenge and finding the prompts on Pinterest and Angela, who decided to join us, making us a happy little trio! Don’t forget to check their daily posts for this challenge.

Once again, let’s keep it simple.

Need to go back to catching up on your posts and watching Eurovision. Pooooortugaaaal!

My favorite types of food:

I love food. I mean, you can probably tell by looking at me. Actually, not really lol I’ve gained a lot of weight due to my depression. I used to eat all the wrong shit, but not anymore, thankfully. I mean, I had pizza today, because we’re doing a date night in. So we got pizza, since we’re watching Eurovision. Anyway, I’m far from the point.

I don’t like strong flavors or sauces or spicy foods. I like simple foods, with simple flavors. Anything too strong, makes me feel sick. For example, I love lasagna, but I can only eat a small amount, because of the sauce. I love pizza, but if it’s made with too much tomato sauce, it makes me feel sick. Until a few months ago, I could not tolerate cinnamon, for example. I don’t like salad dressings. I only use a bit of olive oil, vinegar and a pinch of salt. I love sweets, but they can’t be too sweet.

I’ve changed my food choices and my diet recently and many of the things I eat now are more natural and healthy. Less sugar, less processed foods, whole grains, seeds, nuts, etc. This has led me try new recipes, new food combinations, which has been fun.

My actual favorites are: (In no particular order)

  • Pizza (duh)
  • Anything pasta
  • Portuguese food (Bacalhau à Brás, Bacalhau com natas, Polvo à lagareiro)
  • Hot dogs, with ketchup and mustard
  • Hamburgers
  • Fries!!!!
  • Strawberries, grapes and cherries
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Sweet corn
  • Cucumbers
  • Bread
  • Cheese
  • Portuguese traditional pastries
  • Chocolate
  • Anything with potatoes
  • Anything roasted

What are your favorite foods? Do we share any favorites?

Thank you guys!!

xx

  1. We had Portuguese food in Macau. Not traditional I don’t think Octopus rice ? That was nice . A soupy soggy rice kind of dish . I’ll see if I can dig out photos from my laptop. The egg tarts were very nice.

  2. I love roasted foods and, fruit, pizza(I’m getting pretty tired of it though lol) fries burgers but I’ve stopped eating it so much. Lately when I want a quick snack I make toast and spread a little peanut butter on it😋💛

    • I HATE peanut butter. Can you believe it? I grew up watching American people eat it in the movies and I got this idea that it was sweet. Then I grew up and one day I bough a jar. Nope. Tastes like smashed peanuts. It was a disappointment lol

      • Lol! Smashed peanuts. Wow! I love it I even tried it on a glazed donut before😋 that probably sounds disgusting lol but it was nice. Sorry for that disappointment

  3. Yep I love everything one the list except Portuguese foods, but only because I have never had any that I am aware of. But then again, I’ve never met much food I didn’t like. 🙂 I was on my own really young in life and didn’t have much, well hardly any food. I think that made me learn to eat, love and appreciate any and all food that I ate 🙂

    • I have been in such situation, believe it or not. I’ve had to have bread and butter for dinner because there was nothing else. Such a sad situation to be in. That’s one of the things that really makes me cry, to see people that are hungry. Portuguese food, people love it and say it’s one of the best in the world. Not bragging at all. I think we have good food, people usually like it. Fresh fish, good meat…

      • I was in as son as you said, fresh fish and good meat 🙂 Yes, it was a rough few years. I was 92 pounds. I was anorexic not by choice but by force. I literally went days without eating. I recently saw a picture of myself from back then and it stopped me in my tracks. My legs were the size of most people arms. I was skeletal. I guess thats why I love all food now, and I try to feed people, whether they want to eat or not LOL

  4. I forgot to list fries on my favourite list! Both you and Maggie have mentioned it. Fries are amazing! It’s my go to every time we go out. Or pancakes, if it’s a brunchy sort of place 😄

    • HOW CAN YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN FRIES?? You’re a shame to the fry loving community. Seriously, dear!! I must have forgotten a ton of things I like. I’ve only had pancakes with chocolate cream. I know there’s a whole world of pancakes I should try but it’s a cultural thing, we don’t really have them for breakfast.

    • You’re welcome!! You’re the best cook so tell me, what are your favorites? Have you tried Portuguese food (I don’t want to brag but most people say is to die for)

      • I prefer to take comfort food than taking creamy sugary food. I am tempted to try any new food only by its aroma!
I didn’t get an opportunity to try Portugese, but like to try now 🙂

But Portuguese food is sooo gooood, I’m looking forward to eating loads of bacalhau and pastéis de nata in summer 🙂
I like Japanese food a lot as well! Not only sushi, but also the more traditional dishes.

  8. We have A LOT of the same favorite foods but I will say…I don’t like fish except tuna and salmon so that is where we don’t have much in common ! haha but other than that a lot of the stuff was spot on and I agree with ! Great post 😀

  9. Mmmmm, all that food sounds great! Nice choices. I’m the exact same way with tomato sauce on pizza and pasta dishes – I like it, but I’m small amounts. I can’t handle too much of it! It makes me feel sick – especially leftovers. My family looks at me like I’m crazy when I take excess sauce off of my serving of pizza, ravioli, etc haha
