When I started this blog I thought I would do a ton of book reviews. Well, I have done any kind of reviews at all. Things have taken another turn, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like and won’t do reviews or posts related to what I am reading. I love promoting Portuguese authors too, so bear with me.
It’s no secret that I’m starting “ Harry Potter and the Camber of Secrets” tonight. That one needs no review or presentation at all!! I know you guys are all fans!!
Secondly, I finally want to finish my best friend’s book. You’ll get a full review and interview with the author. That one is really important to me because my friend wrote it and it was such a big accomplish for her and I’m super proud!!
Next, I would love to read a book that was lent me by Rui’s aunt. I need to give it back to her, so I would like to finish it before Easter, when I’ll next see her.
“remember me?” by Sophie Kinsella
I know the author by name and I’m almost 100% sure I have read some of her books before, just can’t remember which. I’m hoping this will be a light reading, so I might get through it quickly.
The next in line is a classic by a very important Portuguese author Eça de Queirós. The name of the book in Portuguese is “A Ilustre Casa de Ramires” and it is one of the few books by this author that I haven’t read. It’s a 19th century author and we study his work in school. It’s one of my favorite Portuguese authors.
Here’s the Portuguese cover: (one of the many, actually)
This book has, sadly, only been translated in English (The illustrious house of Ramires) and Catalan (La il·lustre casa de Ramires);
Book number four is also by a Portuguese author Vergílio Ferreira and its title is “A Aparição” (which means the apparition). I’m familiar with this author and his work but I’ve never actually read any of his books. This one is on my list of books to read before I did so I am looking forward to reading it. Also, I have had many teacher and other people tell me it’s really good.
Here’s one of the Portuguese covers:
This particular book has not been translated into other languages, which is sad.
The next novel was written by our Nobel Prize winner, José Saramago. He actually won the Nobel prize with a book about the construction of the Palácio Nacional de Mafra, which is ten minutes from our house, and which I have shown you a picture of. I have read that book many times (we study it in school also) but the one I’m going to read now is not so well-known. Mr. R has read it (weird) and loved it. It’s called “As intermitências da Morte” and the story line is basically people stop dying and all the consequences that come with such thing. It’s really interesting!
One of the Portuguese book covers:
This book has been translated into English, at least, so you can enjoy it if you are interested. The title is “Death without interruptions” and here is the cover:
So, this is what I hope to read in the next month or so. I know it’s a lot and I might not get to even half of it, but I like to plan and share with you!! What do you intend to read in April?
xx

I just bought more books (bad me), but I have a few by Thich Naht Hanh on living mindfully that look awesome. They all have funny names like “How to Sit”, “How to Eat”, etc.

I finished Remember Me quite recently. Was a sweet book. You’ll know it when you read it but the scene with the sun flowers was ❤

Remember Me is lovely. I read it in a couple of days. I’d recommend Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella too. The author is really lovely too; I met her at an event a few years back.

I’ve only read Blindness and I loved it to bits! I shall look into the one in your read list. I believe, Death with Interruptions is also one of his best books.

Yes. Here in Portugal there are several that are more “famous” than that one, but I believe it to be one of his best books, also. The story line is so interesting, I think I will love it.

Oh and I read blindness when I was 15. It is a difficult book for a teenager but I instantly fell in love!

So happy you’ve started the second book! Oh and btw have you read “Can you keep a secret” and/or “Undomestic Goddess” ? Both books are my Sophie Kinsella. 🙂

Looks like quite a list, have fun! Oh gosh, I can’t even count the number of times I’ve read Harry Potter. I have serious problems LOL! I’m currently reading the Deathnote series (a manga) and am planning on borrowing volume 3 from the library today. I’ve also started reading the bible recently, it’s a work in progress. I’ve started reading a book on vertical gardening as well. Plus, I have to read the D&D player’s guide as my husband, brother and I are planning on starting to play in a month of two.

It’s great to have goals!
I’ve been reading cozy mysteries lately but I picked up a historical romance at the library the other day and will be starting it once I’m done with the mystery I’m currently reading. 🙂

I never pick up mysteries, I don’t know why. I always go for novels, mostly classics!

I hadn’t either until a few years ago when I read a couple of mysteries…then here recently, I picked up a new cozy mystery and now I’m hooked!

Great reading goals! It’s so nice to set and achieve reading goals. There’s something so satisfying about checking a book off your to-be-read list. ❤
Have you thought about listening to audiobooks at all while you do stuff around the house? It's something I am thinking of taking up soon. I can't say for sure how well it will work out for me but I figure it's worth a shot at least. 🙂

I’ve listened to some short story readings on youtube, but I’ve never listened to a straight up audiobook yet either, so you’re not alone! lol 😛

Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorite authors. It’s always a laugh out loud good time with her novels. I’ve read all of them except the latest one, My Not So Perfect Life. I have it, but I’m trying to finish up another book. It’s been kind of slow going.

I’ve read “blindness” before. It was really captivating. I’m a bit late to tell what I’ll be reading in April. But I’ll say that of May.
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Inspell by Cornelia Funke
Inkworld by Cornelia Funke.
So far, I’ve completed the first of the trilogy – Inkheart. Moving on to the next. It’s quite good.
If I finish all three before May is exhausted, I’ll have to go add more to the list.
