Dear reader, I decided I should write something more personal, as my last posts have been about Awards, followers, etc, and That’s not me. I want this to be a personal blog, I the last few posts don’t sound like me. Don’t get me wrong, I love being nominated for Awards, I’m over the moon with 100+ followers, but that’s not the most important. For me, it is all about content. About sharing my heart with you and connecting. With this and, since I have a lot of thoughts going on my mind, I decided to write a few random things.
- I’ve been on medical leave this whole week, as they can’t get my sleeping medication right. I’ve not been sleeping, therefore I’m exhausted. When I sleep, I get scary nightmares. I spend all night tossing and turning (poor Mr. R) and feeling cold, but then I wake up all sweaty. I need the to get this right ASAP, because I’m tired of waking up in the morning feeling like I’ve just woken up from a coma.
- My dear friend Rita just had a motorcycle accident, and she broke her collarbone. Poor love is in pain, so send kiss and (soft) hugs along her way. I hope she recovers soon and doesn’t need surgery.
- My dear friend Patricia just wrote a beautiful book, and I’m half way through it. I hope to finish it soon. I’m so proud. I can’t believe she’s a published author. She used to write all the time when we were younger and finally she has her book. By the way, there’s a whole post coming about her and the book.
- I’m almost done with watching the Oscar nominees. I watched Manchester by the Sea and I’m half way through Lion. What else is there? Hacksaw Ridge and Fences, right?
- My dog just took a bath and is crazy, running through the house and shaking and rubbing herself on the couch and rugs? Why bathe the dog if she’s going to get the couch and rugs full of hair to dry herself?
- We just came home from having dinner at a Chinese buffet and sushi bar. I’m the kind of person that goes there and only eats 5 fried shrimps and french fries (sorry) and my boyfriend eats his weight in whatever they have. He needs to make sure he’s getting what he’s paying for.
- I have so much laundry. I don’t know who two adults can have so much dirty laundry but we do. Also, I feel like I talk about laundry all the time here. This blog should be called laundry for days.
- My best friend Ricardo’s birthday was two days ago. Happy birthday love.
- I think about doing a grocery haul this one, so you can see what we buy and our meal plan. Would you like that? I’m extremely nosy and I love those posts so I’m jealous and want my own.
- It smells like wet dog right now.
- I also think that shrimp was not so good, my belly is not happy.
- There was something very sad yesterday. My sister went to my grandmother’s house to spend the night. I’ve told you she has severe dementia right? She turned to my sister and said “Are you here alone? Where is grandpa?” my sister looked at her and said “You know grandpa has died many years ago” and my grandmother asked “So how are you related to my husband?” and my sister answered “Grandma, I’m your granddaughter, and hist granddaughter, but he died many years ago.” My grandma simply answered “oh, so you have no grandfather”. It breaks my heart. It also breaks my heart that my younger sister had to be the one dealing with such situation. She had never forgotten he had passed away before. Very sad moment.
- Who do you think is going to win the Oscar for best picture?
- I’ve been living on cereal. I’m addicted to my cereal. Ceriously! I need an intervention. Send help! I eat like a box every two days. My boyfriend just sits there and I can see him thinking “Oh my, what a fat pig!” Of course he doesn’t say anything because he fears for his life.
- There’s a new gym opening near our house and I think that’s the one I’m going to end up going to. It has classes at 7 a.m and at 9 p.m which is great for me because I can either go before or after work. What’s your favorite time to work out?
- I think I’m going to make Oreo mousse tomorrow? Have you tried it?
- My back hurts. I go to Youtube and watch massage videos in hopes of feeling a little relief.
I guess that’s enough for random stuff. Thank you for putting up with mah crazy!
Random comments: I am like your boyfriend when it comes to food. I always eat the whole thing, whatever I order; My favorite time to work out is around 1-2 PM, however, at that time I am usually busy, so I work out in the evening; Regarding sleeping, I am not a doctor and I have never dealt with insomnia, however, I might still warn you that solving this problem with pills might not be the best solution, especially if it’s long term. Eventually, the pills can be the cause of the problem (needing them to sleep, due to addiction), rather than solution. If you’re interested in some of my ideas about it you can contact me through my site.
Kudos for watching all those movies. I’ve been watching them a lot in the past, but I got incredibly lazy when it comes to films. Need to start watching ’em again.
Now, a general comment… Where have you learned English? It’s perfect!

I don’t have insomnia. I suffer from depression, that’s where the insomnia comes from and the why I need pills. I’ve learned in school for 11 years, then in university and I’m actually a teacher so.. Thank you for the long comment. I love those

Hahaaa I had Chinese for dinner tonight, too! Not at a buffet, though; we got takeout. Oh, no, I’m so sorry about your friend!! Send her my get well soon wishes. ❤ For a while now, I’ve had cereal for breakfast every morning, but I made banana pancakes yesterday and ohhh man; they make such a nice breakfast! Check out my Pinterest if you want the recipe; it’s one of the last things I pinned. They’re super easy!
Also … I have a suggestion for when it comes to sleeping, although it may not help you. Have you ever watched relaxing videos on YouTube called ASMR? It’s a calming therapy for people who struggle with falling asleep. Some are people softly reading, some are guided sleep mediation, some are simply relaxing sounds for sleep … the list goes on. I highly recommend looking it up – they’ve helped me to relax in the evenings when I’m feeling tense or anxious. 🙂

Thank you, Maggie. I will tell my friend. I’ve tried those videos but I just can’t seem to focus. Did that happen to you?

Yes, I’ve had that happen with many videos. It takes a really good one for me to enjoy it and be able to relax. 🙂 I’ve been watching FredsVoice a lot recently; some of his roleplays are hilarious!

Ah! I loved this randomness! I have often wondered why dogs go crazy after baths…UGH! I also know what it is like to go through sleep issues. I tried everything under the sun to not have to use prescription pills. The natural methods or supplements etc, just would not cut it. Mine stemmed more from my anxiety and some of that ole depression thing too. My doc finally prescribed me trazodone and I am happy to say that I don’t need to take it nearly as often. Not sleeping well is literally the worst, it impacts everything else. Especially if you are not feeling 100% yourself already, its such a challenge.
Hang in there and I hope you get some rest soon!

Yes, it has been a huge problem. Thank you for sharing your troubles. I will hopefully get better soon. About the dogs, I heard it’s because they stop smelling their own smell and need to rub everywhere to get it back lol don’t know if it’s true.

I just had Chinese food the other night too! 😛
Dogs are always so hilarious after they’ve had a bath. Our one pug, Brutis, who is always so happy-go-lucky absolutely hates baths. His little curly tail falls limp and he looks at you with the saddest puppydog eyes you’ve ever seen but the moment he gets out he’s so hyper and funny. He just wants to roll around and wrestle while you try to dry him off with a towel and then he’ll grab it with his mouth and try to play tug of war with it. Such a cutie. lol
That oreo mousse sounds amazing. I’ve made a bunch of other flavors like chocolate, white chocolate, cheesecake, vanilla, pumpkin, lemon, and coconut, but never oreo before. I think I’m going to have to try it soon! 🙂
I’m really sorry to hear that about your grandma. Dementia is such a hard thing to cope with for the person who has it and also for their family and friends around them. Lots of love to you and your family. ❤

I always love your big comments! Rosa keeps still when we are washing her, I think she actually likes it. But then she comes out and runs around the house like crazy and gets everything wet and harry. I’ll write about the Oreo mousse today and some Portuguese cooking too 🙂 Thank you, honey 🙂

Reading about your sister visiting your grandma broke my heart. 😦
On a happier note, I am totally with you on that cereal addiction. I will go through a family-size box of Reese’s Puffs in two days. It’s a problem, but not one that I want to fix.
Oh, and post-bath dogs are nuts! My girl wants to wiggle all over my bed after she has a bath. The worst part is she’s terrified of my hair dryer so she never lets me dry her!
